ICFJ offers fellowship for conference on road safety
Journalists who are fluent in English and interested in reporting on road safety can apply for this fellowship.
The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is accepting applications for the Journalists’ Fellowship and Workshop on Road Safety. The program will select 15 journalists from around the world to attend the second Global High-Level Conference on Road Safety hosted by the government of Brazil and co-sponsored by the World Health Organization.
The conference, which will take place Nov. 17 to 19 in Brasília, Brazil, aims to share knowledge and spur action on what works to prevent traffic-related fatalities and injuries and improve safety on the roads for all who use them.
Fellows will also participate in a daylong session before the conference to improve their stories on road safety. During the session, they will learn to use a variety of data to demonstrate how road safety affects communities; work with new tools that help them find and scrape data; and learn to engage audiences using visualizations such as interactive graphics and social media.
The selected journalists are expected to report the news generated by conference for their media outlets, including emerging issues in road safety on a national and global level.
The fellowship covers travel, accommodations and conference registration.
The deadline is Aug. 31.
