IWMF seeks applicants for trips to Africa
Women journalists with at least three years of experience and excellent English skills can apply for a reporting trip.
The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) is leading five trips to Africa over the course of 2015 as part of its African Great Lakes Reporting Initiative. The next round will take participants to the Central African Republic.
Six women journalists will be selected for the trip to report on themes of civil society, governance and humanitarian issues Nov. 2 to 17. Fellows will begin their trip with three days of comprehensive security training alongside local Central African journalists, then complete 10 days of in-country reporting.
The IWMF pays for fellowship-related expenses including travel, lodging, meals and fixers/interpreters unless the fellow’s news organization wishes to assume these costs.
Applicants proficient in French will be given priority.
The deadline to apply is Aug. 12.
