Knight News Challenge focuses on elections

Nonprofits, for profits or individuals of any age can submit innovative ideas.

The Knight News Challenge is a contest that aims to accelerate innovation in news and information by funding the best new ideas and supporting them through its network of peers and advisors.

This challenge seeks ideas and projects that better inform and inspire voters, as well as make the election process more fun and accessible for individuals.

Winners will receive funding of anywhere from US$35,000 to several hundred thousand dollars to implement their ideas. The contest is a collaboration between the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Democracy Fund, the Hewlett Foundation, and Rita Allen Foundation.

Applications must be in English, but projects can take place worldwide. The deadline to submit ideas is March 19.
