Survey: Editors accepting multimedia revolution

Newsroom Barometer, a survey conducted by Zogby International and commissioned by the World Editors Forum and Reuters. Participants were surveyed on the quality and pace by which the change from traditional media into the new multimedia sphere is happening. Sixty-three percent of those surveyed think journalistic quality will improve in the next 10 years, while 44% believe the Internet will be the most common platform for reading news in the future. Conversely, 31% think print will remain the main news source. According to the survey, 72% of journalists in Africa and the Middle East are expected to become multimedia reporters, meaning they will be able to write for both print and Web platforms, as well as produce video and photo versions of their stories.
