The IJ4EU program launches a new phase of funding schemes, dedicated to investigative journalism. In 2020, the fund set aside 800 000 EUR to support investigation projects and 200 000 EUR to provide institutional support to media organizations. The emphasis is, as in previous years, on the cross-border aspect of collaborations.
IJ4EU has two funding lines:
1. Investigation Support provides grants of between € 5,000 and € 50,000 to fund new projects
Projects that report from at least two European Union countries or one EU country and one candidate country are eligible; have a cross-border character; are new projects at an early stage or are new phases of existing projects. The deadline is June 14, 2020 .
Information on funding conditions is available here: https://www.investigativejournalismforeu.net/grants/investigation- support-schemes /
2. Publication Support provides grants of up to € 6,250 for short-term support for ongoing cross-border projects , which require funding to complete or publish their reports.
Projects that report from at least two European Union countries or one EU country and one candidate country are eligible. Investigations must be cross-border in nature, but in this scheme, the projects supported are those in progress that need support in order to be completed. The duration of the funded actions must be between 1 and 5 months. Applications for funding will be accepted until September 18, 2020 .
