Solutions Journalism: microgrants call

The call for microgrants to support the development of solutions journalism in Georgia, Moldova & Romania has been extended to March 8, 2021.

Transitions announces a call for microgrants for journalists interested in developing solutions stories in Georgia, Moldova & Romania. Stipends are available for up to 500 € (400 € + 100 € for travel costs or more complex stories or series of stories). In addition to financial support, mentoring is also offered during the entire production of the article to achieve the highest possible quality.

Microgrants are intended for authors interested in quality, independent journalism and for those who don’t want to end the story with just describing the problem. Both staff journalists and freelance reporters are eligible.

Before submitting the application, it is highly recommended to watch the webinar “Introduction to solution journalism” (1 hour webinar + 30 minutes questions and answers, in English) and study the SJ Basic Manual.

If you want to apply, please fill in the APPLICATION FORM. Pitches must be submitted in English (don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be perfect English!), but you are free to publish the article in your own publication in your native language.

Each request will be assessed by a jury made up of representatives of Transitions and the local partner in the particular country. This jury will select and announce the winning candidates. The grant recipients will have three months to publish their work.
